The CBAP Exam Outline
The IIBA established the CBAP® examination in order to standardize the Business Analysis profession across the globe. The certification has some strenuous eligibility criteria which are outlined in an introductory blog post here.
The exam has 120 multiple choice questions spanning over six distinct areas of business analysis expertise. The exam must be completed within 3.5 hours. The questions follow the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) Guide and are both scenario and case-study based. The exam intends to create a strong foundation of BABOK principles, and is not meant that the analyst has exhaustive knowledge about all facets of business analysis.
The knowledge areas and their weightage is outlined below:
Knowledge Areas | Weightage |
Business Analysis, Planning and Monitoring | 14% |
Elicitation and Collaboration | 12% |
Requirements Life Cycle Management | 15% |
Strategy Analysis | 15% |
Requirements analysis and design definition | 30% |
Solution Evaluation | 14% |
